Presented the results of market surveillance
carried out throughout 2016

During the last meeting of the Plastics Certification Committee held last February 8th, AENOR presented the results obtained in the market surveillance carried out throughout 2016.
The market surveillance plan is prepared by the Committee at the beginning of the year, considering the products that have reflected the highest number of incidents in the previous year or according to special circumstances may arise. The plan for 2016 included the following products:
- PVC pipes for pressure, for large diameters, from 315 mm to 630 mm
- PE 40 pipes for water supply
- PEX-A pipes
- Brass fittings used in PEX systems
- Brass fittings used in multilayer PEX and multilayer PERT systems
The samples were selected by the AENOR inspectors in the market, in distribution centers, warehouses of construction products, department stores and, for the products that this is not possible, directly in the warehouses of the manufacturers, visiting them without previous announcement.
*It is made to selected manufacturers considering the results of the market surveillance of 2015.
Once the results are known, all the producers are informed by the Committee's secretary of the results obtained, and in the event of non-compliance, additional information is requested on the causes that could have motivated them and the subsequent urgent plan of corrective actions to correct the situation.
The Committee takes note of the actions and, depending on the seriousness of the infringements found, designs an intensive follow-up in the market for these products. Should nonconformities repeat, the Committee proposes to AENOR to take measures to suspend or withdraw the certificate concerned.
The costs of the first sampling on the market and the tests shall be borne by the Certification Committee, but all necessary actions in the event of non-conformity, such as additional sampling, factory inspections, or repetition tests, are assumed by the affected manufacturer.
The Committee is currently collecting proposals to develop the market surveillance plan for 2017.
