AENOR has issued the first two certificates to companies that have adhered to the OCS scheme and have passed the AENOR audit to verify the degree of implementation of the reference in their facilities.
Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS) is a worldwide initiative of the plastics industry to reduce the loss of pellets, primary microplastics, in the form of pellets or powder) to the environment. In the case of Spain, adherence to the initiative is through ANAIP (Spanish Association of Plastics Industrialists).
Once the companies have adhered to the scheme, AENOR and ANAIP have collaborated in the definition of a certification scheme that gives more confidence to the commitment of adhesion through the evaluation by AENOR of the measures taken by the companies to comply with the commitment.
During the audit, AENOR verifies that the company has carried out an analysis of the risks and critical points of the process where the losses may occur, and as a consequence of the previous analysis, that the company has implemented the necessary actions to address these incidents in the case that could occur. The training of personnel and the establishment of a system of indicators to measure the evolution of the commitment over time are aspects that are also evaluated during the audits.
All participants in the value chain of the raw material can be added to the OCS, from the plastic producer, converters, transport and logistics companies, warehouses, recyclers…
AENOR is a pioneer worldwide in the certification of the OCS and the first two companies to obtain the certification have been CONTENUR, S.A. and PLASTIGAUR, S.A.
