AENOR participates in the annual
Conference of SAPPMA in Johannesburg
AENOR has participated in the annual conference of the South African of Plastic Pipes Manufacturers Association held every year. The conference took place on 6th September in the city of Johannesburg and was attended by over 160 participants representing plastic pipes industry and users of plastic pipes.
As a result of previously maintained contacts, SAPPMA invited to AENOR to present its model for product certification for plastic piping systems.
The conference coincides in the time with the fact that AENOR had got recently the accreditation under 17 South African standards SANS, a fact that allows AENOR to be considered as a valid partner when it is necessary to demonstrate the conformity of products with SANS standards.
In fact, the explanation of the tasks and responsibilities of the different stakeholders in the attestation of conformity was an important issue of debate. Any certification body accredited according to SANS standards by an accreditation body member of the International Forum Accreditation (IAF), (SANAS in South Africa or ENAC in Spain) like is the case of AENOR, is in the position to issue certificates able to demonstrate to the public procurement, or any other customer, the compliance of the products with the required specifications.
After a brief presentation of AENOR, Ricardo Pascual detailed the fundamental pillars on which the certification of plastic piping systems is based, with special emphasis on the rigor of the certification process and the importance of the market surveillance of certified products and the activities organized to promote the use of certified products.
Furthermore, CEIS, the AENOR laboratory for plastic materials, among other products, also had the opportunity to present their capabilities in the field of testing the plastic piping systems.
