JASWIC, (Joint Acceptance Scheme for Water Services Installation Components) was created by the Water Engineers of the major municipalities in South Africa to promote the use of acceptable components in water and sanitation installations and to establish and maintain an acceptance list based on product compliance to the SANS standards.
Holders of the AENOR certificates accredited by SANAS may now apply for the JASWIC recognition and consequently be part of the product accepted list. The firsts AENOR certificates have been already recognized.
Most of the metropolitan areas within South Africa use this list to verify whether a product may or may not be used. Building Inspectors can check on this list to ensure only approved products are used. Consequently, AENOR certified products are entirely valid, and via JASWIC, the products can be legally used on building sites and civil works throughout the country.
Furthermore, during the last meeting between AENOR and JASWIC, we have defined a direct communication channel with JASWIC in order to provide all the additional technical information needed to recognize the AENOR certificates.
